This beautifully crafted set of twelve coloured chalks brings together traditional Japanese craftsmanship with environmental innovation. Made from recycled scallop shells blended with calcium carbonate, they write smoothly with vivid colours whilst producing minimal dust.

The clever formulation creates chalk that's stronger and longer-lasting than conventional versions, yet gentle enough that it won't damage blackboards or leave your hands covered in dust. The special coating prevents chalk transfer to fingers, making them pleasant to use for extended periods.

Perfect for outdoor pavement art, blackboard drawing, or creative projects on paper where they produce pastel-like effects. When shredded and mixed with water, they can even be used like paint for different artistic techniques.

Made by Nihon Rikagaku, the company that pioneered dustless chalk in Japan in 1937. About 70% of their workforce are people with learning disabilities, reflecting their commitment to both quality products and meaningful employment. Their chalk is used in over 60% of Japanese schools.
