About the Original Author: Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849–1924) grew up in England but began writing The Secret Garden in 1909 whilst creating a garden for her new home in Long Island, New York. A natural storyteller from childhood, she found her greatest pleasure in creating stories and bringing them to life. Originally published in 1911, The Secret Garden has captured readers' hearts for over a century.
